We took the opportunity to go meet the team at Whittakers and take a little tour around their distillery, set in the idyllic countryside of Nidderdale.

When setting up Great Yorkshire Hampers we both agreed that it was really important that we got to know our suppliers. It was critical to us that we had shared values, and that we could be confident in the overall quality of the product. We are both big fans of Whittakers Gin already, so we knew from the start we wanted to include their products in our hampers.

Whittaker's is a family business run from a farm in the heart of Nidderdale in North Yorkshire, and the founders Toby & Jane were kind enough to allow us to come over for the afternoon and see where the magic happens!

Jane couldn't have been friendlier, and you really could instantly feel the family vibe when walking around. The distillery is an old 1950s pig shed, but with some pretty impressive kit.

We were so impressed with how hands on the team were, and dedicated to creating great produce.

Jane gave us a really detailed overview of the process and a lot of insight into what is involved in the creation process.

The pandemic has thrown challenges at every business, but Whittakers have done an amazing job producing alcohol gel free of charge to the NHS varying from Intensive Care Units to GP surgeries and small local businesses.

Whittaker's have a great selection of Gins available through their online shop, and also do Distillery tours. We definitely recommend taking a trip when things are back to normal!
